Well, it's true. How else could they see in those pyramid tunnels? There are not many items we have in our homes today that were used in 3,000 B.C. Actually, I can't think of one other than candles. According to <a data-mce-href="http://candles.org/history/" href="http://candles.org/history/" style="border: 0px; color: #00748b; font-family: inherit; font-size: 13px; font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px;" target="_blank">Candles.org</a> the Ancient Romans are credited with using candles even before the ancient Egyptians. This post is quickly getting older and older. </span><span data-mce-style="font-size: small; font-family: verdana, geneva;" style="border: 0px; font-family: "verdana" , "geneva"; font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px;">Today, many people enjoy the scent of candles and the warmth and comfort they provide. Many people have memories associated with scents. That classic "Pine" scent may spark a memory of snow falling at Christmas as a child. Or how about the smell of Mom making an apple pie? We can bring many scents into our homes without ever turning on the oven or chopping down a tree. </span></div>
<div style="border: 0px; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: small; margin-bottom: 1em; outline: 0px; padding: 0px;">
<span data-mce-style="font-size: small; font-family: verdana, geneva;" style="border: 0px; font-family: "verdana" , "geneva"; font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px;"> Crafters and DIYer's have gained popularity in the last decade. One of my favorite sayings is, " Why buy it for $20 when you can make it for $80?" If you are a crafter or an artist you know this is true. Many people have grown hobbies into successful businesses right out of their homes. One of the most popular hobby to business ventures people take is candle making. Why? That's easy; because it's easy! Now, don't confuse easy with fast because candle making is not fast by any means. It is time consuming, very time consuming but the difficulty level is low. Jenny Rose over at <a data-mce-href="http://lather-be-soaping.blogspot.com/2013/09/adventures-in-candlemaking.html" href="http://lather-be-soaping.blogspot.com/2013/09/adventures-in-candlemaking.html" style="border: 0px; color: #00748b; font-family: inherit; font-size: 13px; font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px;" target="_blank"><span style="border: 0px; font-family: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px;">I'd Rather Be Soaping</span></a> explains her candle making process. She has a ton of great information here from where to buy your supplies to a list of supplies to purchase and even what to do if your wax melts in transit! If you are thinking about candle making you will want to visit her blog. </span></div>
<div style="border: 0px; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: small; margin-bottom: 1em; outline: 0px; padding: 0px;">
<span data-mce-style="font-size: small; font-family: verdana, geneva;" style="border: 0px; font-family: "verdana" , "geneva"; font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px;"> For me, candle making was a compliment to my business. I have always loved primitives, log cabins, civil war quilts and just about anything else that looks old. Ok, well maybe not wrinkles, those just make ME look old. I didn't have much time to invest in a great new idea but I needed something that would pay my rent in my small rental space in a local shop. I know you are giving me the one eyed look right now because I just told you candles take a long time but I got into candles because I didn't have much time. Well, let me explain! Candles are very time consuming. They take up a lot of space, they have a long drying time, each wick needs to be trimmed and each candle needs a label. With that being said, I usually make candles in batches of 100 and they will be completed over two days. On day one I melt the wax, add my fragrances and dyes, place the wicks, pour the wax and let them dry. On day two I trim the wicks, lid all of the candles and place the labels. If you have ever made 100 cookies for a cookie exchange you can relate. It is much easier to make 100 candles over two days than 10 candles every day for 10 days. </span></div>
<div style="border: 0px; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: small; margin-bottom: 1em; outline: 0px; padding: 0px;">
<span style="border: 0px; font-family: "verdana" , "geneva"; font-size: 13px; font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px;"> Candle making is pretty straight forward. It is a great hobby or business venture for someone who likes to make things but may not have that creative eye. You have a set of instructions to follow and you must follow them to have a great product. For the out-of-the-box thinkers, candles can still be fun for you. Think of the different scents and colors you could mix together to get your own special blend. Or how about the different containers? Day 3 </h3>
<div>
I know, I know! It's really Day 5 and I am only on Day 3!!! Well... there's a darn good excuse for that! I found a great retail marketplace last week and guess what? I moved it!!! Yeah! So that means my weekend was busy with tagging and inventory and all of the boring stuff that goes along with owning your own business. Ok, ok, enough of that. You just want to make a quick, cheap and easy card! </div>

Fold your card base in half and attach the grey card stock. Using a punch or die cut, cut out your negative image from the black card stock and use an embossing folder to emboss. When you are done sewing do you look at the ground and think to yourself," Wow, what a great birds nest that would make!" I do! I had threads everywhere every time I was on a sewing streak. That's why I made one of these! I have seen them here and there and even at one of my scrapbooking retreats. I decided I needed one ( Ok, I have seven.....) and so the pattern was born! Oh and did I mention it has a pin cushion on the top??? It is nice and easy to make and requires only a little bit of fabric. If you are interested in the pattern it can be purchased and downloaded instantly in my Etsy shop.</div>

OK Quilters! You know exactly what I'm talking about! How many of you have made quilt blocks that look fabulous but when you go to sew them together something is wrong? Well, that's just what happened to me! Yes, even experts screw up! <br />
<br />
I saw The Missouri Star Quilt Company did an hour glass quilt so of course I wanted to make one! I make everything they do!<br />
<br />
I wanted to make a very basic table runner for Christmas. I decided to make an hour glass pattern. It's made up of half square triangles. Although it's easy, it can be tedious and that's what gets me every time! <br />
<br />
So I ended up with rows and rows to sew together but as soon as I went to line them up, yep, uneven! These are not the types of squares that you can get away with that! So here I was left with rows and rows! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9IFZFkPQoGj37-w9XNU3s30pao60lGLG6PGCP-l16r6UYE9U2ZTAF_GZlUeKEYV_P7mKQAniqicKIoI1kr-Cu6yr5q2dEgbAC2Lc1yZ8wj3kVkeGJRztiNDw2gbZZxoB5N6SaXCG31QB1/s1600/P1070106.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9IFZFkPQoGj37-w9XNU3s30pao60lGLG6PGCP-l16r6UYE9U2ZTAF_GZlUeKEYV_P7mKQAniqicKIoI1kr-Cu6yr5q2dEgbAC2Lc1yZ8wj3kVkeGJRztiNDw2gbZZxoB5N6SaXCG31QB1/s320/P1070106.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I had a total of 18 rows! So what the heck do I do with them? I grouped them into 4's thinking I would make a table topper. Then I couldn't find enough fabric to boarder it! AH! Ready to throw in the towel? Nope! Not yet! </div>
<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So what if I just do 1 strip? Nice on an end table right? BINGO! Great way to use up a little bit of scraps on the boarder and binding too!</div>
<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Add some boarders </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYP4ew-AJ-JDicu24mnZPluSn1dQHwl2IYuC4qWvCFaqfnGfIwu5finsRgeqUEEEtg0sI64bRk6Li_sq4BWhDIFfhzZ3i43BUJEMZu98T7gWTxFEOOSkwTj5DD19i1nWbJX2KBjDZzr9Jq/s1600/P1070107.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYP4ew-AJ-JDicu24mnZPluSn1dQHwl2IYuC4qWvCFaqfnGfIwu5finsRgeqUEEEtg0sI64bRk6Li_sq4BWhDIFfhzZ3i43BUJEMZu98T7gWTxFEOOSkwTj5DD19i1nWbJX2KBjDZzr9Jq/s320/P1070107.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
and binding and before you know it....</div>
<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaYhNM8gtf7zV9B3yJab2je3w8fgF2QDRYNS2T06xJ7Nte-Df9_aQySfYoMGwMuPGjKG04iXK6oSJphc84ZeupDdqiHu8yOSJB9i4f1wtxH9cnN7PDPT_s1RPPiRJZwxNkD25VXKh4NmuF/s1600/P1070108.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaYhNM8gtf7zV9B3yJab2je3w8fgF2QDRYNS2T06xJ7Nte-Df9_aQySfYoMGwMuPGjKG04iXK6oSJphc84ZeupDdqiHu8yOSJB9i4f1wtxH9cnN7PDPT_s1RPPiRJZwxNkD25VXKh4NmuF/s320/P1070108.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So now I have enough to make one for every single person in my family for Christmas. That's not going to happen but I have enough :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
When you want to try a new block or your strips don't line up well all hope is not gone! Turn it into a runner or a mug rug and no one will ever know you didn't mean to do that in the first place! </div>
<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I have an awful cold so I cuddled up on the couch this afternoon and crocheted! The hardest part was finding something to watch! Hopefully tomorrow I will be feeling better so I can get back to my list! I am dying to make a jelly roll race quilt top! I have a boot topper pattern for sale in my Etsy shop! <br />

These are two of my favorite companies to work with! Daric has so many craft supplies at bargain prices. I had to contact customer service a few months ago and they were wonderful! Check them out at your local craft store or <a href="http://www.darice.com/" target="_blank">Here.</a><br />

They have a wonderful <a href="http://www.artimpressions.com/" target="_blank">Website</a> and lots of ideas! As I was reading their blog this morning I came across a card <a href="http://artimpressionsstamps.blogspot.com/2013/10/challenge-120-fun-folds.html" target="_blank">Challenge</a>! I am ALWAYS up for a challenge! <br />
<br />
The challenge was to try a "Fun Fold". They give you a tutorial on how to make one but you can use any. They have created stamps specifically for folded cards! These people think of everything !<br />
<br />
In honor of the Fall and Halloween approaching, I used one of my many new Art Impressions stamps and created this card. It is my first fun fold and it came out great!<br />
<br />
Also, a big "thank you" to TheCraftyKitchen over at <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0UMFzFmMgq4" target="_blank">Youtube</a> for her tutorial on how to make a fun fold card!<br />

My niece, 16, became fascinated with them and being the artist she is, she began doodling them everywhere. I came across a henna embossing folder and knew I had to have it! But once I got it I wasn't really sure what to do with it. Here's what I came up with:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgueydJDRHi76t64M5M1YclM4WlH4dRXblnb80-MsGyw4IHIu97NwI4jLrS5UOEbUqZ1wex8wJ3AwhDTHLXTQA_4VWw7o3GF2AIjzbiSaPCnHrG7GqJQ-juGc50KJZjZN9zFPZehbZUXo7_/s1600/P1060590.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgueydJDRHi76t64M5M1YclM4WlH4dRXblnb80-MsGyw4IHIu97NwI4jLrS5UOEbUqZ1wex8wJ3AwhDTHLXTQA_4VWw7o3GF2AIjzbiSaPCnHrG7GqJQ-juGc50KJZjZN9zFPZehbZUXo7_/s320/P1060590.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Not too bad! Let me show you how I did it- it's a really cool technique using wax paper! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div align="left" style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgayW_DgYl6yYd0q8OHkabOEYjmz1umL60V2m6IOCVDmYYx4esK-zNaMgKJEPJAAAonLL1D9ZYdHibmvSeeSMzyhHArtpJWdMp-QhrzLUWNWW9X1rvk_TKat9wf-4ctFEkjo3mUsouIKxG4/s1600/P1060566.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgayW_DgYl6yYd0q8OHkabOEYjmz1umL60V2m6IOCVDmYYx4esK-zNaMgKJEPJAAAonLL1D9ZYdHibmvSeeSMzyhHArtpJWdMp-QhrzLUWNWW9X1rvk_TKat9wf-4ctFEkjo3mUsouIKxG4/s320/P1060566.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is the folder. It is by Darice and I found it at Joann Fabrics on sale for $1.99. Plus, because I belong to The American Sewing Guild I get an additional 10% off! Whoohoo!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Cut a piece of wax paper and place it in the folder. If you are using a Big Shot put it on the last folder. I tried it on the same one you would emboss paper but it ripped the wax paper.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbI8o5zI1Y7-HIevpo-GcYbDPV5tyayMb0DLK5chpEdi8dbMTnfBtrum4ci4GSKk6mpjuvUxLXaYRMmyeUe13Af_VNNnRkIL_kD9j7TzezcZpKDvUzrw2eiWZQlQKpiITZldRo-Wqm1pPm/s1600/P1060569.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbI8o5zI1Y7-HIevpo-GcYbDPV5tyayMb0DLK5chpEdi8dbMTnfBtrum4ci4GSKk6mpjuvUxLXaYRMmyeUe13Af_VNNnRkIL_kD9j7TzezcZpKDvUzrw2eiWZQlQKpiITZldRo-Wqm1pPm/s320/P1060569.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is what you get. It's a little crumpled but don't worry, this is a distressed card and doesn't require perfection.</div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBbq5nNIXgjfAbd0VTQrVrOYhtJiRz6UZnDxNX8fW8mNwSDGL8EqjfFiHgm2A2nR8IOa7YXOBKFW5d4mftJgFCsZyc-HgIbaAqz_d4RGddNHQtZt83awO4KcRJuXVP4M0ryTqVrjlqvpK3/s1600/P1060570.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBbq5nNIXgjfAbd0VTQrVrOYhtJiRz6UZnDxNX8fW8mNwSDGL8EqjfFiHgm2A2nR8IOa7YXOBKFW5d4mftJgFCsZyc-HgIbaAqz_d4RGddNHQtZt83awO4KcRJuXVP4M0ryTqVrjlqvpK3/s320/P1060570.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Place your wax paper on a piece of cardstock.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now the risky part- something your mother would have beat you with a wooden spoon for! Place another piece of cardstock on top of the wax paper and iron it for just a few seconds.</div>

This is what you get when you pull the paper back. The edges are just from the crumpled wax paper. This actually makes an awesome background without embossing folders! Just crumple, flatten and iron.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The image you see now is actually darker than it really is. To bring the image out I am using Distress Ink by Tim Holtz. I love his products! If you look closely on the front there is a little dot. I inked paper with all of my distress inks and then hole punched each one and attached it to the front of the pad so I can see the colors without pulling each out. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
You can use the foam applicator by Ranger ( top left) or you can use a makeup sponge from your dollar store ( top right)</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Distress inks are not meant to be used the same way our normal inks are. You want to tap, tap, tap in the ink and then apply to your cardstock in a circular motion. You may have to use a little muscle when rubbing! The above photo shows the right half with ink. You can see how it really brings out the design! </div>

Color test: Remember the other sheet of cardstock you used to iron? Well use that to test your colors. One side always comes out better than the other so the less embossed side becomes my color tester! Use different inks and sparkles to see what you like best. </div>

Oh NO!Many of you are like me, when we get a bug we just can't shake it! Well,,,,,,, I have an alcohol ink bug! I only have a few but I am in love!!! Let me show you why................<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhu0_aC45sywOxsAoXA2CnX7ApaswXMM3mI9EaUJvizeAKOetph90lk9MJGOCnmXzVmvMoO6wUQoudssnsbu3z5Db9Ajsj5s4x4bCmbAcq5ejShCkpu3LJPmbpaPd5aXbYrcRW8m1yzsXiE/s1600/P1060524.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhu0_aC45sywOxsAoXA2CnX7ApaswXMM3mI9EaUJvizeAKOetph90lk9MJGOCnmXzVmvMoO6wUQoudssnsbu3z5Db9Ajsj5s4x4bCmbAcq5ejShCkpu3LJPmbpaPd5aXbYrcRW8m1yzsXiE/s320/P1060524.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
For this card I used orange and yellow alcohol inks on photo paper. Then I stamped it with an awesome sunflower stamp. Cut it out, cut a piece of burlap, embossed my background and tied a bow! How easy was that???</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div align="left" class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This card was made the same way only using purple and blue alcohol inks.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I wasn't really sure what to do with them so there they sat, lonely and full! Well, it's time to break them out! With the leaves changing and the the crisp air of fall I wanted to really feel that in a card. I am tired of stamping pumpkins and ghosts ( Ok, not really tired of it!) and I wanted something different. That's when I broke out the inks! The best part about them is that you really can't mess up! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Fall Cards</h2>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I have been making so many cards over the last few weeks. Here are some of my recent ones:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOvetim-HX4W-TsrZd0OGzpvlix9rtJJs5lQPg9_PQ42anDw5GEguM7GwPYYZWC1FqCm3kmEJSnzMYKjppXWLPHGfg1vb-Bz0zXzPKlFKtY9xqc2saWsFu0RUCiZCxjFVgYsyDIEcOOnRY/s1600/P1060457.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOvetim-HX4W-TsrZd0OGzpvlix9rtJJs5lQPg9_PQ42anDw5GEguM7GwPYYZWC1FqCm3kmEJSnzMYKjppXWLPHGfg1vb-Bz0zXzPKlFKtY9xqc2saWsFu0RUCiZCxjFVgYsyDIEcOOnRY/s320/P1060457.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I fell in love with this stamp and I knew I had to have it. I colored it using my Spectrum Noir markers. Would anyone be interested in a Spectrum Noir tutorial?</div>

Fall is my favorite time of year. The colors are so beautiful and the crisp air is so refreshing. This is our first fall in NC so I am hoping it is a good one. With that said, let's get move onto the fall crafting world! <br />
<h2 style="text-align: center;">
</h2>
<h2 style="text-align: center;">
What's hot in my craft room:</h2>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I have been working on fall and Halloween cards. scrapbook pages and sewing. My favorite so far is my fall (coffee) table runner. This was such an easy project. It took me a long afternoon to complete. <span id="goog_1358433790"></span><span id="goog_1358433791"></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Back</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I followed this video from <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjGifl2m_3k" target="_blank">The Missouri Star Quilt Company</a> to make this. Jenny did the video as a scrap buster but I wanted mine with new fall fat quarters I had purchased at ACMoore for $1 each!! Can you believe that? If you have an ACMoore near you they have seasonal FQ's usually in a spinning display for $1 all of the time. If you get a 20% off total purchase or $5 off $20 or more then you are REALLY in for it!! That's about $.75 per FQ- who ever heard of such a thing???</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Geez, sales get me so excited! As I was saying about the video... Jenny made hers much wider than I did. The idea is the same so you can make it any size you want. Starting in the center cut a block to whatever size you choose. Cut your strips and apply in order, just like a log cabin. After I pieced the top of course I thought how easy it would have been to do this as a "quilt as you go" project! Oh well, next time! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Apply your binding and you're done! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I really love Missouri Star Quilt Company. I have ordered many items from their shop and the tutorials are wonderful. If you aren't subscribed to the videos you should and if you don't get their daily emails you should! The always have a great " Deal of the Day" and I have picked up many charm packs for only $2.99. Ok, enough of the plugs! :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
On to the next craft....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

But, this was not an easy or spontaneous purchase. I though long and hard about purchasing this "machine" to help save time and money. I can cut fabric pieces in no time and also appliques. Say goodbye to little scissors or hand cramps!<br />
<br />
Of course I investigated price, over and over again. I am an avid scrapbooker and card maker so I though maybe I would purchase a Sizzix Sidekick and that would do the job of the applique pieces and it did..... but that doesn't come close to the Accuquilts large dies capability.<br />
<br />
Wouldn't you know that you can cut paper in the Accuquilt too??? Who would've thought??? :) How nice it is to cut 6 layers of paper into shapes without using or storing a punch! <br />
<br />
And of course my shameless plug to my <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/OneOldStitch" target="_blank">Etsy Shop</a> and my <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pages/One-Old-Stitch/342229219193982" target="_blank">Facebook</a> page! That is the question! Big life changes are heading my way! Soon we will be saying good bye to the armpit of the north east ( NJ) and hello to hush puppies and great BBQ ( NC). I am taking the opportunity to reinvent myself and really pursue a small business of my own by helping other crafters make some extra money! That idea will be blogged shortly! <br />
<br />
My aunt is (and has been since the very beginning) a Stampin Up demonstrator. She has card class every Wednesday night and I have been attending most classes for about two years now. I love, love, love going to class and also making the cards. I have toyed with the idea of becoming a demonstrator when I move for two reasons: <br />
<br />
1- Well, of course, the extra money! <br />
<br />
2- Meet new people<br />
<br />
The reasons I am hesitating:<br />
<br />
1- Fear of buying too many supplies ( I already have a lot!) and not actually using any of the income I make on anything other than Stampin Up!<br />
<br />
<br />
I guess even if I use the money to support my habit I would still be ahead! I would love to hear the pro's and con's if anyone would like to share!<br />
<br />

Tag Blankets: What's the big deal???</h2>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlwlG0Jl_c7bBDRwTW-ZoJM5fnzeRwcTRN_iwLauKDKmxbHKdFKmGW6viz_nN_i86p9VVNWFnxN_TY1HQ1l-RUxEwaiLIQ-Mcxq949qfjAgyVxwroiCUpBgbD51VFMm14gPy5Wxc3lnXgJ/s1600/014+(2).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="229" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlwlG0Jl_c7bBDRwTW-ZoJM5fnzeRwcTRN_iwLauKDKmxbHKdFKmGW6viz_nN_i86p9VVNWFnxN_TY1HQ1l-RUxEwaiLIQ-Mcxq949qfjAgyVxwroiCUpBgbD51VFMm14gPy5Wxc3lnXgJ/s320/014+(2).jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
You've probably seen them but if not, you will now. Tag Blankets. What are they and why on Earth would a baby want of need one?</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I have a photo of my niece when she was about 2 years old on a hot summer day. She was napping on a doll bed ( no, she didn't fit but she didn't care either!) and she was wrapped up in a big, heavy crocheted blanket. I remember sweating that day as I watched her bundled up in 90 degree weather! Wish I had a tag blanket then!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
That's not the only purpose though. Babies love crocheted blankets because they love to put their fingers through holes. Well with plenty of tags you have plenty of holes! The best part? It doesn't take nearly as long to make as crocheting does!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Basically a tag blanket is a two for one special: small blanket for security but very portable and perfect entertainment for baby. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Best part for the crafter? Supplies are very minimal ( I only use scraps for mine!) and time consuming? Only if 20-30 is consuming for you! </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>

It is a very simple concept; put the fabric on the die, roll it through and then you have your perfectly cut fabric !<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8sZ1TTsojfk-24U8NYujgiGBQKWRcK2mX6G9WGB0HLUsIMkNeqYa9INlK_8OHbzQiyHUOW_TxXxvzNeyFvdCd_NYidLdl7KIVVb_Z2jQEwYDeBeXKvWjDQ8rESA5oW_FJpGDFNQ485ZE/s1600/007.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8sZ1TTsojfk-24U8NYujgiGBQKWRcK2mX6G9WGB0HLUsIMkNeqYa9INlK_8OHbzQiyHUOW_TxXxvzNeyFvdCd_NYidLdl7KIVVb_Z2jQEwYDeBeXKvWjDQ8rESA5oW_FJpGDFNQ485ZE/s320/007.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I purchased mine through <a href="http://www.hsn.com/crafts-sewing/go-fabric-cutting-system-mix-and-match-starter-set_p-5695709_xp.aspx?ocm=sekw|best sellers&cm_re=merchzone_carousel*page1_spot1_image*merchzones&o=search-RI&cm_sp=Recommended*Search*top" target="_blank">HSN</a> which had the cheapest price ( even cheaper than Accuquilt.com) for a bundle package. Of course I added a few dies to my collection but if you keep your eye out you can get some really good deals online ( and on auctions!). <br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiedomLdcABJLvlvOUdEbAyW8oqlxLosd6ap98jAWbypTUFCWpER9iDfkw1HhliSnzNasPfEfk0R5gwUy80KOdmKTb7h3dEX-g9Ksqh0A2o41NpMo3jw2AljJad7XeNig10NCZhHe7JfiU/s1600/006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiedomLdcABJLvlvOUdEbAyW8oqlxLosd6ap98jAWbypTUFCWpER9iDfkw1HhliSnzNasPfEfk0R5gwUy80KOdmKTb7h3dEX-g9Ksqh0A2o41NpMo3jw2AljJad7XeNig10NCZhHe7JfiU/s320/006.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
I am making a Halloween table runner with my Rag Quilt Die I just received. It took me literally all of 10 minutes to cut all of the farbic, backing and batting. That's not the best part though.... This die actually cuts the fringe too!!!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPhKv2b7VgAsrWFXDA9RSAuGBUTge6pq72wxSWNoWoFMny-Z8dR4gmQ9MIZVvSYRSeFpo1ouP9RNrAwJwvJyShWt2IsOqpfL5QtDqLG0poM34dgP__oiGbxwYdPq5K6Wag-47Y7hDykFM/s1600/008.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgPhKv2b7VgAsrWFXDA9RSAuGBUTge6pq72wxSWNoWoFMny-Z8dR4gmQ9MIZVvSYRSeFpo1ouP9RNrAwJwvJyShWt2IsOqpfL5QtDqLG0poM34dgP__oiGbxwYdPq5K6Wag-47Y7hDykFM/s320/008.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So now all I have to do is sew the blocks together!!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNCJ1rf1o_eiQKUCC2q77uvD4oILRX0p1aMFjdvyur3vhDiMjh4nJN4ImIYYU1VgUCnjhMyG0aX_axRbGANpcuc4JnBu_4OiMmhgHQkB2JTGBoH6xhARL2S37_rsGLBzl6AgobwIj0-90/s1600/009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNCJ1rf1o_eiQKUCC2q77uvD4oILRX0p1aMFjdvyur3vhDiMjh4nJN4ImIYYU1VgUCnjhMyG0aX_axRbGANpcuc4JnBu_4OiMmhgHQkB2JTGBoH6xhARL2S37_rsGLBzl6AgobwIj0-90/s320/009.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
